Associate / Practitioner / Scholar
A CIRTL at IUPUI Scholar can:
- Present or publish a successfully completed TAR project that integrates all three of the CIRTL core ideas.
- Demonstrate for local peers expertise in disciplinary teaching practices by presenting on those practices at the IUPUI TA Orientation.
To earn a CIRTL at IUPUI Scholar Completion Certificate, participants must complete the four required parts described below.
Once you have submitted the required documentation for all the five parts, contact the CIRTL at IUPUI team to earn your Practitioner completion certificate.
Prerequisites:Complete Practitioner-level requirements.
Part 1: Disseminate TAR project:
Disseminate your TAR project outcomes through one of the following venues – journals on Scholarship of Teaching and Learning or Discipline-based education research, CIRTL Network publications, conferences including POD, E.C. Moore Symposium on Excellence in Teaching , Assessment Institute, etc. You are required to submit publication, poster and associated peer reviews, if any, in Part 1 Assignment in the Scholar module in Canvas.
Part 2: Teaching Demonstration workshop:
Attend the workshop on Preparing and Delivering an Effective Teaching Demonstration. Submit post-attendance email email as evidence of attendance in the Scholar module in Canvas.
Part 3: Teaching Philosophy Statement:
Update and submit your Teaching Philosophy Statement in the Scholar module on Canvas. Your updated draft should indicate how your experiences of going from an Associate to Scholar level in the CIRTL at IUPUI program has influenced your teaching philosophy and practices.
Optional: Complete the three-workshop series on Communicating Science offered through the IUSM Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development. Based on your participation in the Communicating Science workshops, submit a revised research abstract and a recording of the final interview at the end of the workshop series in the Scholar module in Canvas.
