Grad CHAT stands for Graduate Student Conversations Happening about Teaching. The Grad CHAT series is bi-monthly and strive to create an interactive and informal learning space for graduate students to share their expertise and learn more from peers and experts. Each 60-minute session will start with a 15-minute pesentation followed by open discussion. The sessions will be led by an experienced graduate student instructor and will also feature experts. Graduate teaching assistants and all graduate students interested in teaching and learning are welcome to join the Grad CHAT series.

Fall 2023 Grad CHAT Sessions

The Canvas Tips and Tricks session focuses on various topics related to grading in Canvas, such as using Speedgrader for efficient grading and feedback and resolving students' grading concerns. This session is scheduled on August 31, 10 - 11 a.m via Zoom, and will be led by Ms. S. Valli Sanghami, CIRTL Graduate Assistant. The session also features Lesli Amaya, Instructional Technology Consultant as our expert.

The Student Responsibility and Academic Integrity session will be structured as a panel discussion and will be moderated by S. Valli Sanghami. Our featured panelists include  Marilee Brooks-Gillies, Associate Professor of English and Kevin Jones, Faculty from IUPUC Business who will share their experinces and expertise on promoting academic integrity. This session will be held on Oct 20th 12-1PM via Zoom and topics will include plagiarism, using generative AI, instructors’ and students’ perceptions of academic integrity, and addressing academic misconduct.
